Spotify on Iphone and Ipod Touch

Finally, Spotify is available on App Store.

As many websites have now confirmed, VG-nett and DinSide amongst others, Apple has now approved Spotify as a new app on AppStore. The app, called Spot, is ready to download, and the app itself is free. However you have to have a premium membership to use it, which costs you 16,70$/11,44 €/10 £ per mont..

The Ipod Touch and Iphone app works perfectly; search for and listen to music just like on the computer. Playing your music works almost the same way as on the Ipod Touch and Iphone's music app - and it works excellent. You can also edit and create playlists, and it works smoothly.

One of the most interresting features, is the "offline playlist". This gives you the oppertunity to play music when you are without internett connection. The "offline playlist" must of course be made when you're online, as you choose the songs you want "downloaded" to your playlist. However, to be able to synchronise the songs with your Ipod Touch or Iphone you need to be wlan connected. In my opinion, this is a somewhat unnecessary limitation.

Unlike the built-in music app, Spotify can not play music simultaneously as you use other apps, as the Iphone and Ipod Touch is not multifunctional when using apps not made by Apple themselfes.

Download Spotify for your Ipod Touch or Iphone

So, is it worth the money?

Spotify is an exiting application with an enormous potential. The first version definately fulfills the expectations, and with the mobile version Spotify hopes to get more paying customers.
Personally, I will not pay to be a premium user. That is partly because I'm somewhat of a music enthusiast and have alot of music on iTunes from before, and I'm practicly broke. But I certainly understand those of you who do.

Spot is also available on Andriod-phones, and Spotify will most likely also release a Sony-Ericsson and Nokia version.

Now, I'll end this post with a totally random picture:

Ipod Touch and Iphone Games – the Issue

Ipod Touch games and Iphone games have become extremely popular. And for good reasons. The games you can get on these two devices are extraordinary, compared to other Ipods, and media players, and other mobile phones.

The main reason for this is the technology. The advanced technology used in the Ipod Touch and Iphone, are simply in an other class than many other devices. At least entertainment-wise. This opens for more advanced game graphics, gameplay and so on. In other words: the advanced technology used in the Ipod Touch and Iphone allows “better” games.

The Ipod Touch is just so much more than a simple media player or an MP3. Simultaneously, the Iphone is so much more than just a mobile phone. Today the fact is that these devices are becoming so popular not because of the concept that they are great media players or mobile phones, but rather because of the games and applications available on them. Ipods and Iphones are on the verge on becoming simple gameboys or “toys”, instead of being the great media players they are supposed to be. The focus on applications and games for the Ipod Touch and Iphone is, in my opinion, to immense.

Just recently, as the number of applications on Appstore just passed a staggering 1 billion, this just proves my point.

Will we soon be seeing Apples' version of a PSP in the stores. On the other hand, I myself spend a lot of time using the games and applications on my Ipod Touch, and I like it. However, that was not what I bought it for, and it is effecting my use of the Ipod Touch as a great media player, which is what it really is.
